The article  “Is owning a dog good for your health?”  written by Luisa Dillner is devoted to the discussion if dog-lovers are healthier people. First, the author draws our attention to a study of 3.4 million people that shows that having a dog causes the reduction of the risk of dying from any cause. Then she analyses the hesitation of The American Heart Association about this fact because it is observational - there are no any proofs of it; perhaps only people who are fit buy animals that need daily walks . She also emphasizes that the study shows the biggest positive impact of having a dog is on lonely people because dogs encourages them to be more active and communicative. In addition, she says that the most health benefit comes from having retrievers or pointers. In the end it was stated that it would be great if the realization of the importance of having a dog would increase.
